Roles & Responsibilities
- Prepare patients for imaging exams, explain procedures clearly, and answer questions with care
- Perform diagnostic radiographic procedures safely and accurately as ordered by physicians
- Verify patient identity using two identifiers and confirm exam orders for appropriate imaging
- Position patients and select proper techniques to capture diagnostic-quality images
- Operate CR, DR and fluoroscopy equipment, including CR readers and printers
- Transfer images to PACS, archive studies, and manage image priority (STAT/URGENT) when needed
- Assist radiologists and fluoroscopy techs during special procedures and maintain sterile technique when required
- Prepare and administer IV and oral contrast media and document any reactions and relevant details
- Move portable radiographic equipment across departments including ED, OR, PACU and nursing units
- Perform clerical duties such as scheduling, order verification, CD burning and workflow monitoring
Qualifications
- ARRT registration in Radiology (required)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider, current and maintained every two years
- Completion of an accredited Radiologic Technology training program approved by ARRT
- High school diploma or equivalent
- One year of radiology experience in a hospital, clinic or physician office preferred
- Familiarity with CR/DR/fluoroscopy equipment, PACS, and contrast administration
- Strong communication skills and ability to follow written and verbal instructions
Education
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Completion of a specialized Radiologic Technology program approved by ARRT
Knowledge & Skills
- Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy and physiology relevant to radiology
- Patient positioning and radiation safety practices consistent with ALARA standards
- Competence operating CR, DR and fluoroscopy rooms and CR reader/printer operation
- Experience with PACS image transfer, scanning documents and managing image priorities
- Ability to prepare and administer contrast media and respond to contrast reactions
- Comfort working in fast-paced environments such as ED, OR and inpatient units
- Customer service mindset and clerical skills including scheduling and order verification
