Roles & Responsibilities
- Assess patients quickly and accurately on arrival to the emergency department
- Triage patients to determine severity and prioritize care
- Provide immediate stabilization and life-saving interventions when needed
- Administer and monitor treatments and medications in accordance with protocols
- Collaborate with physicians, specialists, and the care team to coordinate patient care
- Document patient status, interventions, and outcomes clearly and promptly
- Educate patients and families about diagnoses, treatments, and next steps
- Participate in ongoing skills maintenance and required certifications to ensure high-quality care
Qualifications
- Oklahoma State License (OK) or compact license accepted where applicable
- Current BLS (AHA) required
- Current ACLS (AHA) required
- NIHSS certification required
- PALS (AHA) required
- TNCC preferred
- At least 2 years of ER nursing experience (required)
- Recent travel nurse experience preferred
- Two supervisory reference forms completed within the last two years
- Current skills checklist (within 1 year) relevant to emergency nursing
Knowledge & Skills
- Emergency assessment and rapid clinical decision-making
- Triage and prioritization in high-acuity settings
- Acute stabilization and life support skills
- Proficiency in ER nursing practices and emergency protocols
- NIHSS stroke assessment
- Trauma and emergency nursing concepts (TNCC familiarity)
- Ability to work effectively as part of an interdisciplinary team
- Adaptability to travel assignments and varying clinical environments
