Shift Type: 12-hour night shifts (night schedule; exact start/end times vary by unit), 36-hour guarantee; Night shift coverage, may include weekends. Block scheduling will not be considered.

Roles & Responsibilities
- Coordinate total nursing care for assigned patients across Rehab and Med-Surg units
- Provide leadership as a Charge RN when called upon, guiding ancillary staff and maintaining standards of care
- Participate in patient and family teaching to support recovery and independence
- Collaborate with therapists (PT/OT/Speech) and interdisciplinary teams to deliver holistic rehabilitation plans
- Monitor and manage nurse-to-patient ratios (typical 1:4/5) while maintaining quality and safety
- Float between units as needed, adapting to different patient populations and care priorities
- Document care accurately in Cerner to ensure continuity and regulatory compliance
- Serve as a reliable clinical resource and escalate concerns to ensure optimal patient outcomes
Qualifications
- Active RN license for Vermont (required); New Hampshire RN license or Compact must be uploaded
- Minimum 2 years recent Med-Surg and Rehab nursing experience (required)
- Charge RN experience (required) with at least one supervisory signed reference from the past two years
- Previous travel nursing experience (minimum 3 months) is required
- Current American Heart Association BLS (required) and ACLS (required)
- Ability and willingness to float to other units within scope of practice
- Must have reliable personal transportation; facility is in a small community without public transit
- Work history and current Medical Surgical skills checklist (within 1 year) required
Education
- BSN - Bachelor of Science in Nursing (strongly preferred)
Knowledge & Skills
- Proficient in Cerner EMR documentation and workflows
- Strong med-surgical assessment and critical thinking skills tailored to rehabilitation patients
- Experience coordinating interdisciplinary care with PT/OT/Speech and social services
- Leadership abilities for charge duties, delegation, and team communication
- Skilled in patient and family education with a focus on functional recovery
- Ability to manage shifting priorities in a small community hospital setting
- Familiarity with nurse-to-patient ratio management and census-driven staffing
- Comfort with acute inpatient rehab interventions and transitions of care
