Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide expert, compassionate labor and delivery care for high-risk and routine pregnancies
• Perform continuous fetal monitoring and interpret fetal heart rate patterns to guide timely interventions
• Circulate for cesarean sections and assist with surgical procedures including D&C and cervical cerclage
• Assist with vaginal deliveries and support complex, high-risk deliveries when needed
• Administer and titrate critical medications including magnesium sulfate, insulin drips, and antihypertensives safely
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including anesthesia, pharmacy, respiratory, and rapid response for excellent patient outcomes
• Document care accurately in Epic and maintain unit standards for charting and patient handoffs
• Maintain assigned patient ratios (1:1 or 1:2) and provide focused bedside care for neonates and adults

Qualifications

• Active RN license appropriate for practice in California (pending licenses are not accepted)
• Minimum 2 years of recent Labor & Delivery experience required — no first-time travelers
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NRP, AWHONN Intermediate
• AWHONN Advanced preferred
• Must have prior travel experience and be able to circulate for C-section
• Comfortable working in a very high-risk L&D unit with diverse pregnancy diagnoses
• Ability to meet RTO requirements at time of submittal

Education

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program (ADN or BSN). BSN preferred.

Knowledge & Skills

• Proficient with external fetal monitoring and EFM interpretation
• Recognition and treatment of abnormal fetal heart rate patterns
• High-risk antepartum care and management of pre-eclampsia/eclampsia, multiples, IUFD, diabetes, and other obstetric complications
• Experience circulating and assisting in cesarean sections and other obstetric surgical procedures
• Medication management including magnesium sulfate therapy, insulin drips, and antihypertensives
• Familiarity with Epic electronic charting and documentation workflows
• Ability to function in a fast-paced, interdisciplinary acute care setting
