Shift Type: Night shifts, 12-hour schedule, 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM; includes approximately 4 weekend shifts per 4 weeks; may be placed on standby and required to float between ICU and Telemetry units
Hours per Week: 36
Candidate Pay Rate: $60 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide high-acuity neuro critical care for patients with complex neurosurgical and neurological diagnoses
- Perform thorough neuro assessments and monitor intracranial pressure using established protocols
- Manage ventilators and collaborate closely with respiratory therapy for optimal respiratory support
- Care for patients with external ventricular drains and respond to emergent neurologic changes
- Maintain sterile technique for procedures including Foley and central line care during SIMs Lab and on unit
- Document accurately in Cerner and coordinate care with multidisciplinary team including RT and Pharmacy
- Float to telemetry and other ICU units as needed while maintaining safe patient ratios
Qualifications
- Active RN license in Arizona or eligible to obtain Arizona licensure
- Minimum 2 years of ICU experience, preferably in a large hospital 450+ beds
- Level 1 Trauma experience is required
- EVD external ventricular drain experience required
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications
- 3-6 months travel RN experience preferred
- Comfortable with Cerner electronic charting
- Able to pass facility-required exams and SIMs Lab competency (Foley insertion, central line dressing changes where applicable)
- Willing to comply with facility appearance and fit test requirements including clean shave for fit test and no facial piercings
Education
- Active RN license required
- BLS and ACLS certifications required
- BSN not explicitly required by the unit
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong neuro assessment skills and recognition of neurologic changes
- ICP monitoring and management experience
- Ventilator management and working knowledge of respiratory support
- Telemetry monitoring with Phillips systems
- Competence with Foley catheter insertion, central line care, and port-a-cath procedures
- Wound care, safe patient lifts, and application of restraints per policy
- Ability to function in a fast paced Level 1 Trauma environment
- Effective communication and teamwork skills for multidisciplinary collaboration
