Roles & Responsibilities

• Monitor maternal and fetal well-being continuously and interpret fetal monitoring strips
• Manage labor progression and perform cervical exams within scope
• Assist with and prepare patients for spontaneous and operative deliveries
• Administer medications safely and timely according to orders and protocols
• Respond promptly and effectively to obstetric emergencies to optimize outcomes
• Provide compassionate postpartum education and emotional support to families
• Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to ensure continuity of care
• Document care accurately and communicate changes in condition to providers

Qualifications

• Current Montana RN license required
• Experience in Labor & Delivery required
• Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification required
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
• Strong clinical judgment and ability to respond to obstetric emergencies
• Excellent patient communication and family-centered care skills

Knowledge & Skills

• Fetal monitoring interpretation and trending
• Cervical exams and assessment of labor progress
• Assisting deliveries and preparing for operative deliveries
• Medication administration and IV management
• Postpartum education and newborn care basics
• Emotional support, patient education, and clear communication
• Quick decision-making in high-acuity obstetric situations
