Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide direct, high-quality care for medical/surgical and critically ill patients from admission through discharge
• Operate and manage advanced equipment including ventilators, multiple IV pumps, arterial and central lines, and chest tubes
• Assess patients continuously and implement established policies and procedures with minimal supervision
• Lead clinically on the unit and provide direction to RNs, LPNs, CNAs and support staff to ensure cohesive care
• Assist with discharge planning to ensure safe transitions and clear patient education
• Precept and mentor new staff, promoting best practices and a culture of learning
• Collaborate closely with providers, charge nurses and leadership to optimize patient outcomes

Qualifications

• Current Montana RN licensure (required)
• BLS and ACLS certifications (required)
• PALS, EPNC, TNCC certifications (preferred)
• Practice experience in an advanced medical/surgical unit and recent Critical Care nursing experience (required)
• Demonstrated ability to precept and function as a clinical leader
• Comfortable operating advanced invasive monitoring and ventilatory support equipment

Education

• Degree from an accredited nursing program

Knowledge & Skills

• Critical care nursing and medical-surgical nursing skills
• Ventilator support and patient ventilatory management
• Central line and arterial line (A-line) management
• IV pump management and use of multiple IVs
• Chest tube management and invasive line care
• Advanced patient monitoring and interpretation of trends
• Strong assessment skills and ability to implement clinical policies
• Effective communication and teamwork across multidisciplinary teams
