Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide direct, high-quality care for medical/surgical and critically ill patients from admission through discharge
- Operate and manage advanced equipment including ventilators, multiple IV pumps, arterial and central lines, and chest tubes
- Assess patients continuously and implement established policies and procedures with minimal supervision
- Lead clinically on the unit and provide direction to RNs, LPNs, CNAs and support staff to ensure cohesive care
- Assist with discharge planning to ensure safe transitions and clear patient education
- Precept and mentor new staff, promoting best practices and a culture of learning
- Collaborate closely with providers, charge nurses and leadership to optimize patient outcomes
Qualifications
- Current Montana RN licensure (required)
- BLS and ACLS certifications (required)
- PALS, EPNC, TNCC certifications (preferred)
- Practice experience in an advanced medical/surgical unit and recent Critical Care nursing experience (required)
- Demonstrated ability to precept and function as a clinical leader
- Comfortable operating advanced invasive monitoring and ventilatory support equipment
Education
- Degree from an accredited nursing program
Knowledge & Skills
- Critical care nursing and medical-surgical nursing skills
- Ventilator support and patient ventilatory management
- Central line and arterial line (A-line) management
- IV pump management and use of multiple IVs
- Chest tube management and invasive line care
- Advanced patient monitoring and interpretation of trends
- Strong assessment skills and ability to implement clinical policies
- Effective communication and teamwork across multidisciplinary teams
