Roles & Responsibilities
- Obtain and record patient vital signs accurately to inform clinical decisions
- Room patients and prepare them for provider exams with professionalism and empathy
- Perform specimen collection including throat swabs, clean-catch urine, and venipuncture
- Administer injections and immunizations safely and per clinic protocols
- Chart patient encounters and clinical activity in Epic with attention to detail
- Handle telephone triage and pharmacy refill requests with clear communication
- Set up and assist with clinic procedures and basic wound care, including suture removal
- Conduct point-of-care testing such as blood glucose checks and document results
Qualifications
- Minimum 1 year clinical experience (as stated)
- Proven experience charting in Epic (required)
- Comfortable performing venipuncture, specimen collection, and administering injections
- Skilled in telephone triage and managing pharmacy refill requests
- BLS certification preferred
- Ability to work effectively in an outpatient hematology/oncology clinic setting
Knowledge & Skills
- Patient vital signs and rooming workflows
- Specimen labeling and handling (throat, urine, blood draws)
- Venipuncture technique and point-of-care testing (glucometer)
- Injections and immunizations administration
- Epic charting and electronic health record documentation
- Telephone triage, follow-up phone calls, and pharmacy refill coordination
- Basic clinic procedures: TB test administration, nebulizer treatments, suture removal
- Hearing and vision screening in the outpatient setting
