Roles & Responsibilities
- Assess patients and develop individualized recovery plans that help them regain function and independence
- Provide hands-on physical therapy treatments in both inpatient and outpatient settings
- Deliver specialized interventions including gait training, vestibular/balance therapy, post-surgical and post-concussion care
- Fabricate and fit splints and temporary orthotics to support rehabilitation goals
- Collaborate with occupational and speech therapy colleagues and the interdisciplinary care team to coordinate holistic care
- Document care accurately and timely in EPIC to ensure continuity and quality
- Educate patients and families on home programs, safety, and strategies to accelerate recovery
- Participate in quality improvement and patient-safety initiatives to enhance outcomes
Qualifications
- Active New Hampshire Physical Therapist Assistant/Aide license (Compact allowed) — required
- Minimum 2+ years PTA/Physical Therapist Aide experience in a rehab setting — required (new grads not considered)
- Current American Heart Association BLS certification — required
- Previous travel assignment experience — preferred
- Traveler must have reliable vehicle and provide traveler permanent address in profile
- One supervisory reference from within the past two years (signed) and up-to-date skills checklist — required
Education
- Graduation from an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) program (associate degree or equivalent) — typical requirement
Knowledge & Skills
- Solid grounding in rehabilitation services across inpatient and outpatient care
- Expertise in gait training, orthopedics, and post-surgical rehabilitation
- Experience with splint and orthotic fabrication (temporary and permanent)
- Comfort providing vestibular and balance services and LSVT techniques for Parkinson's
- Skilled in patient assessment, functional capacity evaluation, and individualized care planning
- Proficiency documenting in EPIC EMR and following facility policies
- Strong communication and patient education abilities
