Shift Type: 3x12 Day shifts, 07:00 AM - 07:30 PM, with on-call; weekends every third (Day shift, schedule varies)
Hours per Week: 60
Candidate Pay Rate: $57 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities
- Assist surgical team during Labor & Delivery and Cesarean procedures, ensuring patient safety and sterile technique
- Prepare and maintain the operating room, instruments, and specialized equipment (Triton, Neptune, Cysto Tower)
- Perform specimen handling and labeling with precision to support accurate diagnostics
- Follow Universal Protocol (time-out) and aseptic technique for every case
- Anticipate surgeon needs, pass instruments efficiently, and manage case flow to reduce OR time
- Support emergency management and maintain crash cart readiness when needed
- Communicate clearly with nursing, anesthesia, and surgical colleagues to deliver seamless patient care
- Participate in unit-specific tasks such as tubal ligations, cerclage, D&C, and occasional hysterectomy cases
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required
- Completion of a formal Surgical Technology training program or equivalent (Associate degree in Surgical Technology preferred)
- Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) strongly preferred
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
- Valid State Surgical Technologist license required
- Minimum 1 year of operating room experience as a Surgical Technologist (Labor & Delivery experience preferred)
- Comfort working with neonatal, adolescent and adult patient populations
- Familiarity with teaching hospital environments is a plus
Education
- High school diploma or GED required
- Completion of a formal Surgical Technology Training Program or equivalent (Associate degree preferred)
Knowledge & Skills
- Aseptic technique and strict adherence to infection control / PPE protocols
- Specimen handling and labeling best practices
- Universal Protocol (time-out) and sharps safety procedures
- Proficiency in Labor & Delivery procedures including C-sections and assisted vaginal deliveries
- Experience with gynecologic procedures: hysterectomy, tubal ligation, cerclage, D&C
- Comfortable using OR technology: Neptune, Triton, Cysto Tower and case cart systems
- Familiarity with Cerner or other electronic charting systems
- Strong situational awareness, teamwork, and effective intraoperative communication
