Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality perioperative nursing care across ortho, neuro and general cases
• Coordinate and manage 1:1 patient care in the operating room to ensure safety and optimal outcomes
• Accurately document care and case details using Cerner and Surginet
• Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists and OR techs to run efficient case flow
• Respond to call assignments within a 30-minute window and manage emergent needs calmly
• Follow and use preference cards to standardize case setup and instrumentation
• Participate in trauma and CVOR team responses when required
• Support charge RN with assignments and handoffs to maintain team continuity

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the applicable state
• Minimum 2 years of clinical nursing experience (perioperative or acute care experience preferred)
• Current BLS, ACLS and PALS certifications required
• Comfortable working with OR technology and teams including CSTs
• Experience charting in Cerner and familiarity with Surginet is a strong plus
• Ability to respond to call within 30 minutes and work rotating weekend coverage
• Willingness to complete unit-specific orientation (about 1 week or until comfortable)

Education

• Active RN license; BSN preferred but not required

Knowledge & Skills

• Solid knowledge of perioperative nursing practices and OR procedures
• Skilled in patient monitoring and maintaining 1:1 patient ratios in the OR
• Familiarity with ventilator management and working alongside RT teams
• Proficient documentation skills in electronic medical records (Cerner)
• Ability to use preference cards and support efficient case turnover
• Comfort collaborating with multidisciplinary teams including surgeons, anesthesia, pharmacy and sterile processing
