Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, person-centered care to geriatric residents, helping with activities of daily living
- Assist with safe transfers, mobility support and fall-prevention measures to keep residents secure
- Document resident care accurately using MatrixCare to maintain clear communication
- Collaborate with the DON, charge nurse and interdisciplinary team to follow individualized care plans
- Support unit operations by floating as needed and pitching in during busy periods
- Contribute to a positive resident experience through respectful communication and attention to dignity
Qualifications
- Active CNA/state nurse aide certification eligible for North Dakota submission
- Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification — required
- Minimum 2 years of experience in long-term care or similar geriatric setting
- Comfortable working 12-hour day shifts and floating between units as needed
- Able to complete a brief unit-specific orientation (2-3 shifts) prior to starting
Education
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- State-approved CNA certification (required)
Knowledge & Skills
- Familiarity with long-term care best practices and geriatric care needs
- Experience charting in MatrixCare or similar EMR systems
- Strong observation and communication skills to report resident changes
- Ability to work within posted CNA ratios (e.g., ~1:8 on days) and maintain safe workflows
- Team-oriented attitude and flexibility to cover every-other-weekend schedules
