Contract Type: Travel Contract
Shift Type: 12-hour rotating shifts. Days: 6:45 AM - 7:15 PM; Nights: 6:45 PM - 7:15 AM. Every-other-week (EOW) pattern with a weekend requirement of 3 weekend shifts in a 4-week cycle (Sat/Sun days; Fri/Sat nights). Night-focused assignments available (12-hour nights, EOW).

Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality, compassionate nursing care for laboring mothers, postpartum patients, and newborns in a Level III NICU setting
- Perform continuous fetal surveillance using Fetal Link and Philips FHM and interpret findings to inform care decisions
- Manage a diverse acuity mix from low to high risk deliveries and coordinate safe transfers when surgical intervention is needed
- Respond promptly to emergencies and collaborate with laborists and multidisciplinary teams for optimal outcomes
- Maintain accurate patient documentation in Cerner and follow unit-specific protocols and California nurse-to-patient ratios
- Participate in unit rotations including occasional peds/couplet care or NICU feeders & growers when clinically appropriate
- Serve as a dependable team member for weekend and holiday rotations, supporting continuity of care with permanent staff
Qualifications
- Active RN license eligible to practice in California
- Minimum 2 years of recent acute care nursing experience (L&D, Telemetry, Emergency, or Critical Care experience highly valued)
- Current BLS, ACLS and NRP certifications required
- Advanced Fetal Monitoring certification required (or able to obtain)
- AWHONN certification or equivalent OB specialty training preferred
- Able to pass a proctored onsite Dysrhythmia Test (PASS/FAIL) on day one
- Up-to-date COVID vaccination as required by the facility
Education
- Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) — BSN not required
- Active California RN license
Knowledge & Skills
- Proficiency with Cerner electronic medical records and fetal surveillance systems (Fetal Link, Philips FHM)
- Strong fetal monitoring interpretation and labor management skills
- Comfort with telemetry basics, emergency response, and critical care principles
- Experience with couplet care and basic NICU feeders & growers care is a plus
- Excellent communication, teamwork, and clinical decision-making under pressure
- Familiarity with California nurse staffing ratios and unit-specific workflows
