Shift Type: Rotating 12-hour shifts (day/evening/night): typical day shift 11:00 AM - 11:00 PM; weekday night call coverage 11:00 PM - 7:00 AM (8-hour call); weekend rotations include 6:30 AM - 3:00 PM, 2:30 PM - 11:00 PM, or 10:30 PM - 7:00 AM. Schedule includes weekdays and rotating weekends (approximately 3-4 shifts in a 4-week cycle); shift type: rotating (day/evening/night).

Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide safe, patient-centered perioperative care in the Operating Room for trauma, ortho, vascular, neurosurgery, ENT, thoracic and general surgery cases
• Prepare and maintain a sterile field, instruments and equipment for a variety of surgical procedures
• Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists and perioperative team members to coordinate efficient, high-quality care
• Perform accurate patient assessments and monitor vital signs, intervening promptly using ACLS/BLS protocols when needed
• Document care and case details thoroughly in the Cerner charting system
• Support call coverage and handoffs during weekdays and rotating weekends to ensure continuity of care
• Participate in unit-based quality improvement and safety initiatives to enhance patient outcomes
• Educate patients and families about perioperative expectations and postoperative care

Qualifications

• Active RN licensure (eligible to practice in California)
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience (per job requirements)
• Current ACLS and BLS certifications (required)
• COVID-19 vaccination required
• Prior Operating Room (OR) experience and familiarity with trauma, ortho, vascular, neuro, ENT, thoracic or general surgery cases
• Experience using Cerner or other electronic health records is preferred
• Comfort working 12-hour shifts and participating in rotating weekend call schedules

Education

• Nursing diploma, ADN or equivalent (BSN not required per job listing)

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong perioperative and intraoperative nursing knowledge
• Sterile technique and surgical instrumentation familiarity
• Trauma and acute surgical case management
• Ability to follow ACLS/BLS emergency protocols confidently
• Proficient documentation and charting in Cerner
• Adaptability to rotating shift schedules and call rotations
• Effective communication and teamwork in high-acuity environments
