Roles & Responsibilities
- Operate and monitor cardiopulmonary bypass equipment during cardiac procedures to support optimal patient outcomes
- Prepare, prime, and troubleshoot perfusion circuits and related devices with attention to safety and sterility
- Collaborate closely with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and the cardiovascular OR team to coordinate care
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation in EPIC and other charting systems
- Perform device setup, calibration, and routine maintenance to ensure readiness for cases
- Participate in orientation and handoff communication to ensure continuity of care across shifts
- Adhere to hospital policies, regulatory standards, and infection-control protocols in an acute care setting
Qualifications
- Certified Clinical Perfusionist (CCP) via ABCP — required
- BLS (AHA) — required
- Minimum 2 years of perfusion experience (cardiovascular OR/acute care experience preferred)
- Comfortable working in a high-acuity Cardio OR environment and collaborating with multi-disciplinary teams
- Experience with EPIC charting is a plus
- Current, unrestricted clinical credentials as required by the facility
Education
- No BSN required (degree not specified in posting)
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong knowledge of cardiopulmonary bypass techniques and perfusion equipment
- Familiarity with cardiovascular operating room workflows and acute care protocols
- Proficiency in clinical documentation and charting (EPIC)
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills for coordination with surgical and anesthesia teams
- Attention to detail and ability to troubleshoot equipment and circuit issues under pressure
