Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality, patient-centered care across the lifespan from pediatrics to geriatrics on a Med/Surg/Telemetry unit
• Monitor and interpret telemetry and bedside monitors to detect changes in patient condition
• Titrate and manage IV drips and set-rate infusions (insulin, Lasix, Cardizem, heparin, magnesium, potassium, etc.) safely and according to protocol
• Administer medications, blood products, and treatments while documenting accurately in MEDITECH
• Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team, nursing coordinator, and house supervisor to coordinate patient care and transfers
• Manage respiratory support and equipment (BiPAP, heated high flow, bubble CPAP, vents support knowledge) and escalate concerns appropriately
• Provide thorough patient and family education, discharge planning, and handoffs to ensure continuity of care
• Float to other departments as needed within scope of practice and participate in unit-specific orientation (minimum 2 days)

Qualifications

• Active, unrestricted RN license (state-specific) required
• Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications required
• Minimum 1 year of clinical experience with MedSurg, Telemetry, and Pediatrics (1 year required)
• Experience titrating drips and managing a wide variety of acuity levels
• Familiarity with MEDITECH or similar electronic charting systems preferred
• Comfort working rotating 12-hour shifts, weekends, and holiday coverage
• Previous travel nurse experience preferred but not required
• Ability to meet the facility radius rule and RTO requirements as specified by the client

Education

• Active RN license required
• BSN not required

Knowledge & Skills

• MedSurg and Telemetry clinical knowledge across pediatric to geriatric populations
• Telemetry interpretation and monitor reading without dedicated monitor techs
• IV drip management and drip titration competency
• Proficiency with MEDITECH charting and documentation standards
• Basic ventilator and respiratory support familiarity (BiPAP, high flow, CPAP, vents)
• Strong assessment, triage, and critical thinking skills in acute care
• Clear communication and teamwork in a small-hospital environment
• Ability to prioritize and manage patient loads consistent with posted nurse:patient ratios
