Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive care to obstetric patients during labor, delivery, and postpartum
• Assist with labor and delivery including fetal monitoring, medication administration, and patient education
• Monitor maternal and fetal well-being and respond to complications
• Educate patients and families on postpartum care, breastfeeding, and newborn health
• Collaborate with physicians, midwives, and other healthcare professionals for safe care
• Assess, plan, and implement nursing care for adult patients in Med-Surg when OB unit is inactive
• Administer medications, IV therapy, and wound care as per physician orders
• Respond to emergencies and coordinate with interdisciplinary teams for optimal outcomes

Qualifications

• Graduate of an approved School of Nursing required; BSN preferred
• Minimum 1 year of previous experience in obstetric nursing required
• Current Registered Nurse (RN) License in Idaho or approved compact state
• BLS, NRP, and AWHONN Intermediate Fetal Monitoring required upon hire
• PALS required upon hire or within one year of employment
• Experience in Maternal/Fetal Assessment, Newborn Assessment, and Postpartum Care

Education

• Graduate of an approved School of Nursing

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong knowledge of nursing principles and practice
• Ability to prioritize with accuracy and speed in a fast-paced environment
• Excellent communication skills with diverse age groups and backgrounds
• Ability to make nursing decisions within scope of licensure
• Adaptability to work across OB and Med-Surg units as needed
