Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide intermediate-level care to cardiac patients, including those from CVICU downgrades and thoracic surgery
• Monitor telemetry strips, interpret rhythms, and respond to changes in patient status
• Titrate and manage cardiac drips such as amiodarone, nitro, nicardipine, and epinephrine
• Collaborate with cardiologists, intensivists, and the interdisciplinary team to ensure optimal outcomes
• Support patients in the cath lab, EP lab, and structural heart program with pre- and post-procedure care
• Educate patients and families on cardiac conditions and recovery plans

Qualifications

• Active RN license in Nebraska or compact state
• BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required (all must be current)
• Minimum 1 year of recent experience with cardiovascular or intermediate care patients
• Valid driver's license (required at submission for radius check)
• Ability to pass an open-book exam during orientation (90% or higher)
• Comfort with artificial nail policy: no artificial nails in patient care areas

Knowledge & Skills

• Proficient in titration of cardiac drips (amiodarone, nitro, nicardipine, epi, cardizem, etc.)
• Skilled in telemetry interpretation: ability to read own strips and differentiate rhythms
• Experience with BiPAP, CPAP, and nasal cannula oxygen delivery
• Understanding of patient ratios: 1:4 general, 1:3 for post-surgical first 24 hours
• Familiarity with electronic charting and cardiac monitoring equipment
