Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality nursing care to patients within a correctional healthcare setting
• Administer medications and treatments safely and document all care accurately
• Perform patient assessments and communicate changes to the clinical team
• Train and precept incoming staff during the required 2-3 week day-shift orientation
• Collaborate with colleagues to ensure continuity of care and smooth shift handoffs
• Maintain a safe, secure environment and follow facility policies and procedures
• Respond effectively to clinical situations and escalate concerns when needed

Qualifications

• Valid LVN license (Licensed Vocational Nurse) — required
• Willingness and ability to train new staff for 2-3 weeks on day shift
• Comfort working in a correctional facility environment (Centinela State Prison)
• Ability to work the scheduled days: Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Friday and Saturday

Education

• Vocational nursing diploma or equivalent (completion of an LVN program)

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong clinical assessment and medication administration skills
• Clear and timely documentation and charting practices
• Experience or aptitude for training and precepting newer staff
• Excellent communication and teamwork in a fast-paced environment
• Ability to follow security protocols specific to correctional healthcare
