Roles & Responsibilities

• Assist therapists in implementing individualized treatment plans to help patients regain independence in daily activities
• Provide skilled therapeutic interventions under the direction of the occupational therapist
• Document patient progress and update care plans accurately and promptly
• Collaborate with nurses, PTs, SLPs, and the care team to ensure coordinated, patient-centered care
• Educate patients and families on adaptive techniques, assistive devices, and strategies to promote safety and function
• Maintain a safe therapeutic environment and adhere to facility policies and regulatory requirements

Qualifications

• Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) credential in good standing
• Current state licensure or authorization as required by the facility
• Comfortable working in a rehabilitation setting and collaborating with an interdisciplinary team
• Strong communication and documentation skills
• Basic Life Support (BLS) preferred or willing to obtain

Education

• Associate degree from an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program
• COTA certification and any state-required licensure or registration

Knowledge & Skills

• Skilled in assisting with ADL training, therapeutic activities, and adaptive equipment
• Knowledge of rehabilitation principles and common diagnoses seen in post-acute care
• Proficient in clinical documentation and electronic charting
• Ability to instruct patients and caregivers in safe transfer and mobility techniques
• Strong interpersonal skills and a patient-centered approach
