Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess patients on arrival and continuously monitor status using strong clinical judgment
• Administer IV medications, therapies and blood products safely and accurately
• Provide focused emergency and critical care interventions when seconds matter
• Document nursing assessments, interventions and patient responses clearly and promptly
• Educate patients and families about condition, treatment and discharge plans with compassion
• Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to coordinate timely, high-quality care
• Maintain required certifications and participate in unit-based quality and safety initiatives

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) licensure (appropriate state) preferred
• BLS, ACLS and PALS certifications required
• Minimum 1+ year of recent nursing experience required
• At least 1 year of prior critical care or emergency nursing experience required
• Experience with IV medication administration and blood product administration
• Clear background and license history; travelers with hits/actions on license/background will not be accepted
• Must not be a previous employee of St. Mary’s as stated by the client

• Patient assessment and triage in a fast-paced emergency setting
• IV therapy and medication preparation and administration
• Blood product handling and transfusion procedures
• Critical care nursing principles and emergency interventions
• Thorough nursing documentation and electronic charting skills
• Strong communication, patient education and teamwork abilities
• Comfort working 12-hour rotating shifts and adapting to variable patient volumes
