Roles & Responsibilities

• Prepare and set up the operating room, instruments, and equipment for each scheduled procedure
• Assist surgeons and the scrub team during procedures while maintaining strict sterile technique
• Position and drape patients safely for both adult and pediatric cases
• Verify equipment functionality and perform basic troubleshooting to keep cases on track
• Manage the sterile field, count instruments, and follow infection control protocols
• Support a variety of surgical specialties including General, Orthopedics, ENT, Ophthalmology, OB/GYN, Urology and Podiatry
• Participate in rotational scheduling and respond professionally to on-call activations

Qualifications

• Completion of an approved Surgical Technician training program accredited by the Association of Surgical Technologists (AST), OR documented on-the-job clinical training, OR military surgical specialty training
• Certification requirement: obtain NBSTSA certification within 6 months after 3-year qualification, or hold CST, NCCT (3yr/6240 hours), or TS-C
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association and maintain it throughout employment
• Willingness to work rotational schedules and provide on-call coverage (nights, weekends, holidays)
• Able to document training, certifications, and clinical experience as requested

Education

• Approved Surgical Technician training program (AST) completion OR
• On-the-job clinical training in surgical technology OR
• Military surgical specialty training

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong sterile technique and surgical instrument identification
• Proficient in OR setup, patient positioning, prepping and draping
• Ability to check and ensure equipment functionality and to troubleshoot common issues
• Experience or comfort assisting in both pediatric and adult surgical cases
• Excellent communication, teamwork, and the ability to perform under pressure
• Attention to infection control, patient safety, and accurate documentation
