Roles & Responsibilities

• Circulate for orthopedic operating room cases, ensuring smooth pre-op and intra-op flow
• Prepare the OR and supplies, verify implants and instruments for ortho procedures
• Advocate for patient safety and maintain proper positioning and padding throughout cases
• Coordinate with surgeons, anesthesia, and scrub techs to anticipate needs and reduce turnover time
• Perform accurate documentation and handoffs to deliver continuity of care
• Maintain strict sterile technique and infection-prevention practices
• Support the perioperative team with clear communication and a calm, patient-centered approach

Qualifications

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing
• Experience as an OR circulating nurse with orthopedic surgery exposure preferred
• Comfortable performing pre-op assessments and intra-op circulation duties
• Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced surgical environment
• Basic Life Support (BLS) and perioperative certifications are a plus

Education

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program (ADN or BSN preferred)

Knowledge & Skills

• Perioperative nursing principles and best practices
• Sterile technique, instrument and implant familiarity for ortho cases
• Strong teamwork, communication, and situational awareness in the OR
• Patient advocacy, positioning, and safety protocols
• Efficient documentation and perioperative charting skills
