Candidate Pay Rate: $62 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities
- Assess and monitor respiratory status, providing timely interventions that improve patient outcomes
- Manage and troubleshoot mechanical ventilators and advanced airway support
- Deliver evidence-based respiratory therapies such as aerosol treatments, chest physiotherapy, and oxygen therapy
- Perform and interpret arterial blood gases and collaborate with the care team to optimize respiratory plans
- Respond to respiratory emergencies and participate in rapid response and code situations
- Educate patients and families on respiratory care plans, equipment use, and home transition needs
- Maintain and calibrate respiratory equipment, ensuring safety and regulatory compliance
- Document assessments, interventions, and outcomes clearly in the medical record
Qualifications
- CRT or RRT credential (or state equivalent) required or eligible
- Current Vermont Respiratory Care license required or must be able to obtain prior to start
- Basic Life Support (BLS) required; ACLS preferred or available upon hire
- Experience in acute care or critical access hospital settings preferred
- Strong clinical judgment, excellent communication skills, and ability to work autonomously
- Ability to pass facility onboarding and comply with credentialing requirements
Education
- Associate degree in Respiratory Therapy or equivalent; Bachelor's degree preferred
Knowledge & Skills
- Proficiency in ventilator management and weaning protocols
- Skilled in arterial blood gas (ABG) sampling and interpretation
- Knowledge of respiratory pharmacology and oxygen therapy delivery systems
- Familiarity with infection control practices and respiratory equipment sterilization
- Comfortable working in small, close-knit critical access hospital environments
- Collaborative teamwork and clear interdisciplinary communication
