Roles & Responsibilities
- Manage ventilators and advanced respiratory support for patients of all ages with confidence and vigilance
- Provide critical care interventions in the ICU setting, including assessment and rapid intervention for changes in respiratory status
- Deliver neonatal and pediatric respiratory care, supporting Level 2 NICU patients with specialized techniques
- Perform cardiopulmonary diagnostic procedures and interpret findings to guide care
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop and adjust respiratory care plans
- Maintain accurate documentation, adhere to safety protocols, and participate in quality improvement efforts
- Educate patients and families on respiratory therapies and equipment as appropriate
Qualifications
- Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) — required (CRT not considered)
- Valid Colorado Registered Respiratory Therapist license (DORA-RT) in good standing
- Completion of an approved Respiratory Therapy Program (program completion required by licensure rules)
- Current American Heart Association certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS and NRP — all required
- Proven critical care and ventilator experience
- Neonatal and pediatric respiratory experience, including Level 2 NICU care
Education
- Completion of an approved Respiratory Therapy Program (as required for RRT credential and Colorado licensure)
Knowledge & Skills
- Expertise in ventilator management and advanced respiratory modalities
- Strong critical care assessment and intervention skills
- Familiarity with Level 2 NICU protocols and neonatal respiratory support
- Ability to perform and interpret cardiopulmonary diagnostic procedures
- Clear clinical judgment under pressure and excellent teamwork/communication
- Comfort working nights and managing workload independently during shifts
