Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide skilled physical therapy interventions under the direction of the supervising PT to help patients regain function and independence
- Assist patients with therapeutic exercises, gait training, transfers, and use of assistive devices
- Monitor and document patient progress, updating care plans and communicating changes to the care team
- Collaborate with nurses, therapists, and support staff to create coordinated, patient-centered care plans
- Educate patients and families on home programs, safety techniques, and strategies to support recovery
- Maintain accurate, timely documentation and adhere to facility policies and regulatory standards
Qualifications
- Licensed Physical Therapist Assistant in North Carolina or eligible for licensure
- Graduate of an accredited PTA program (associate degree or equivalent)
- Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required or obtain upon hire
- Experience in inpatient rehabilitation, skilled nursing, or similar settings is preferred
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within an interdisciplinary team
- Professional, compassionate approach to patient care with solid clinical reasoning
Education
- Associate degree or diploma from an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program
- Completion of PTA clinical education and state licensure requirements
Knowledge & Skills
- Skilled in therapeutic exercise progression, manual techniques, and mobility training
- Proficient with patient assessment, documentation, and outcome measurement
- Knowledgeable about safe patient handling, transfer techniques, and fall prevention
- Comfortable working with adult and geriatric populations in a rehab/skilled nursing setting
- Able to prioritize tasks, manage caseloads, and adapt treatment plans based on patient response
