Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide skilled physical therapy interventions under the direction of the supervising PT to help patients regain function and independence
• Assist patients with therapeutic exercises, gait training, transfers, and use of assistive devices
• Monitor and document patient progress, updating care plans and communicating changes to the care team
• Collaborate with nurses, therapists, and support staff to create coordinated, patient-centered care plans
• Educate patients and families on home programs, safety techniques, and strategies to support recovery
• Maintain accurate, timely documentation and adhere to facility policies and regulatory standards

Qualifications

• Licensed Physical Therapist Assistant in North Carolina or eligible for licensure
• Graduate of an accredited PTA program (associate degree or equivalent)
• Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required or obtain upon hire
• Experience in inpatient rehabilitation, skilled nursing, or similar settings is preferred
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within an interdisciplinary team
• Professional, compassionate approach to patient care with solid clinical reasoning

Education

• Associate degree or diploma from an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program
• Completion of PTA clinical education and state licensure requirements

Knowledge & Skills

• Skilled in therapeutic exercise progression, manual techniques, and mobility training
• Proficient with patient assessment, documentation, and outcome measurement
• Knowledgeable about safe patient handling, transfer techniques, and fall prevention
• Comfortable working with adult and geriatric populations in a rehab/skilled nursing setting
• Able to prioritize tasks, manage caseloads, and adapt treatment plans based on patient response
