Roles & Responsibilities

• Perform high-quality diagnostic ultrasound exams across adult, pediatric and neonatal patients to support accurate diagnoses
• Acquire, evaluate and document ultrasound images and technical findings for interpreting physicians
• Provide compassionate patient care: explain procedures, position patients, and optimize comfort during exams
• Use PACS and RIS to log, retrieve and send images and maintain accurate exam documentation
• Execute and document quality assurance and infection control procedures to ensure safe equipment operation
• Maintain ultrasound labs and supplies so the team is always ready to deliver care
• Respond efficiently to on-call requests and provide timely imaging support when needed
• Exercise professional judgment, protect patient privacy (HIPAA), and adhere to departmental protocols

Qualifications

• Registry-eligible or registry by the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) required/expected
• Six months of ultrasound experience preferred; experience in general and OB/GYN ultrasound is a plus
• Comfortable providing care to adult, pediatric and neonatal patients
• Ability to participate in on-call rotation and carry beeper/phone for 24-hour availability when scheduled
• Proficiency with PACS and RIS and standard sonographic procedures
• Strong communication skills and ability to work with physicians, nurses and families
• Able to perform physical tasks such as lifting up to 10-25 pounds and moving equipment as required

Education

• Meets requirements for registry by the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) / registry-eligible

Knowledge & Skills

• Ultrasound imaging and image acquisition best practices
• Patient positioning and age-specific care for adults, pediatrics and neonates
• PACS and RIS operation and image/document management
• Infection control, equipment cleaning and QA/test procedures
• Ability to recognize clinically significant findings and communicate them clearly
• Clerical documentation, charge entry accuracy and maintenance of logs
• Professional conduct, HIPAA compliance and teamwork
