Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality, patient-centered critical care for SICU and TICU patients
• Manage mechanical ventilation and ventilator adjustments for complex patients
• Continuously monitor telemetry and interpret EKG strips to detect changes
• Deliver safe postoperative and trauma care including CRRT and ECMO support when indicated
• Perform bedside report and accurate hand-offs to ensure continuity of care
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including intensivists, RT, pharmacy, and surgeons
• Respond quickly to rapid infusers, line placements, and hemodynamic changes
• Document care accurately and timely in the Cerner EMR

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (eligible to submit for this job)
• Minimum 2 years of ICU or critical care nursing experience
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS
• TNCC and trauma experience preferred
• Comfortable with telemetry/EKG interpretation, ventilator management, CRRT/ECMO familiarity, and line procedures
• Able to float between SICU (surgical ICU) and TICU (trauma ICU) as needed
• Med Sol prescreen requirements: two supervisory references (one within 12 months and one within 3 years); candidates may not have been directly employed by CommonSpirit/CHI/Dignity within past year unless PRN through outside firms

Education

• Active RN license required; BSN not required
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS; TNCC preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Critical care nursing and bedside assessment
• Telemetry monitoring and EKG interpretation
• Mechanical ventilation and ventilator management
• CRRT, ECMO, and familiarity with IABP and rapid infusers
• Postoperative vascular and trauma patient care (CEA, fem-pop, EVAR, laparotomy, thoracic)
• Cerner EMR charting and documentation
• Effective bedside report and hand-off communication
• Ability to work 1:1 to 1:2 patient ratios in high-acuity settings
