Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess speech, language, cognitive-communication and swallowing function using evidence-based tools
• Develop and implement individualized treatment plans that help patients regain communication and swallowing skills
• Document progress clearly and timely in the patient record to support continuity of care
• Collaborate with occupational therapy, physical therapy, nursing and family members to deliver holistic care
• Provide training and education to caregivers and staff to reinforce carryover and safety
• Participate in discharge planning to ensure safe transitions and appropriate follow-up
• Adjust therapy approaches based on patient response and clinical best practices

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology (or equivalent)
• ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) preferred or clinical fellowship completed/eligible
• Current Massachusetts SLP license or ability to obtain state licensure promptly
• Valid CPR/BLS certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire)
• Experience providing adult or post-acute rehabilitation SLP services preferred
• Clear background check and compliance with facility onboarding requirements
• Strong communication, documentation and interdisciplinary collaboration skills

Education

• Master's degree (M.S. or M.A.) in Speech-Language Pathology or equivalent

Knowledge & Skills

• Skilled in dysphagia evaluation and treatment, including bedside and instrumental considerations
• Proficient with cognitive-communication assessments and therapy strategies
• Strong documentation skills and familiarity with electronic health records
• Ability to develop measurable, patient-centered goals and adapt interventions
• Comfortable coaching families and care teams to support carryover
• Knowledge of current best practices in post-acute and rehab settings
