Roles & Responsibilities
- Assist therapists in delivering patient-centered care through therapeutic exercises and functional training
- Implement individualized treatment plans under a licensed physical therapist's direction
- Monitor and document patient progress, updating care teams with timely notes
- Provide safe transfer and mobility assistance, prioritizing patient dignity and independence
- Educate patients and families on home exercise programs and injury prevention
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to optimize rehabilitation outcomes
Qualifications
- Current, active Physical Therapist Assistant license in Massachusetts (required)
- Completion of an accredited PTA program (Associate degree or diploma)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) / CPR certification (or willingness to obtain quickly)
- Previous experience in inpatient or rehabilitation settings preferred
- Strong communication skills and a patient-first attitude
- Ability to pass facility onboarding requirements and background checks
Education
- Associate degree or diploma from an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program
Knowledge & Skills
- Hands-on experience with therapeutic exercise, gait training, and mobility aids
- Skilled in patient assessment, documentation, and treatment plan implementation
- Comfortable working with geriatric and post-acute rehab populations
- Team-oriented approach and good clinical reasoning
- Familiarity with electronic health record documentation preferred
