Roles & Responsibilities
- Support patients through meaningful, client-centered interventions that improve daily living skills
- Implement treatment plans under the supervision of the occupational therapy team to achieve measurable goals
- Conduct skilled therapeutic activities and adapt techniques to meet each patient’s needs
- Document progress and outcomes clearly and timely in the patient record
- Collaborate with nurses, therapists and families to ensure coordinated, holistic care
- Educate patients and caregivers on adaptive strategies, home programs and safety
Qualifications
- Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) credential (required)
- Graduation from an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program (required)
- Current state licensure or eligibility to practice in Maryland (obtain or transferable as needed)
- Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) certification (preferred or willing to obtain)
- Comfort working with diverse patient populations in a rehab/contract setting
- Strong communication skills and a collaborative approach to patient care
Education
- Associate degree or diploma from an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant (OTA) program
Knowledge & Skills
- Skilled in therapeutic activity planning and adaptive techniques
- Proficient with patient assessment, goal-setting, and progress documentation
- Familiarity with assistive devices, mobility training and ADL/IADL interventions
- Good clinical judgment, time management and teamwork abilities
- Comfortable using electronic medical records and standard documentation practices
