Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care under the clinical supervision of a Physical Therapist
- Implement therapeutic procedures and modalities to restore strength, mobility, and function
- Conduct range of motion exercises and mobility training tailored to each patient
- Use assistive devices and therapeutic techniques to help relieve pain and improve movement
- Perform patient assessment activities and document progress in the medical record
- Follow the State Practice Act and act within the scope of an LPTA at all times
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, and the interdisciplinary care team
Qualifications
- Valid California License to practice as a Physical Therapist Assistant (required)
- Graduated from an approved Physical Therapy Assistant Program (required)
- Able to work under the clinical supervision of a Physical Therapist and follow care plans
- Strong patient-centered approach with good communication and documentation skills
Education
- Graduated from an approved Physical Therapy Assistant Program
Knowledge & Skills
- Therapeutic procedures and therapeutic modalities
- Range of motion exercises and mobility training
- Pain management strategies and body alignment techniques
- Use of assistive devices and equipment for patient mobility
- Patient assessment and progress documentation
- Patient care best practices and teamwork in a clinical setting
