Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide expert respiratory care to critically ill adult and pediatric patients in the ICU, using evidence-based practice
• Manage ventilators, perform airway management, and deliver advanced respiratory therapies safely and efficiently
• Document patient care accurately and promptly in Epic to support continuity and quality of care
• Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and interdisciplinary team members to develop and implement individualized care plans
• Float between like units as needed to meet patient and facility needs while maintaining high standards of care
• Participate in unit-level policies and adhere to facility guidelines for infection control and safety

Qualifications

• Active Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential required
• Valid state respiratory therapy license for North Carolina required; pending licenses are not accepted
• Minimum of 2 years of respiratory therapy experience, with comfort caring for both pediatric and adult ICU patients
• Proficiency with Epic charting is required
• Comfort working nights, weekends, and observed holidays; ability to float between like units
• Strong clinical judgment, effective communication skills, and a team-oriented mindset

Education

• Associate degree or diploma in Respiratory Therapy or related field preferred
• RRT credential required

Knowledge & Skills

• Advanced ventilator management and arterial blood gas interpretation
• Critical care and pediatric respiratory protocols and procedures
• Epic electronic charting and accurate documentation practices
• Ability to respond to rapid changes in patient condition and prioritize interventions
• Flexibility to float and cover weekend and holiday shifts as required
• Interdisciplinary teamwork and clear communication under pressure
