Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide skilled physical therapy treatments under the direction of a licensed PT, helping patients regain function and confidence
• Assess and document patient progress, adjusting interventions and communicating changes to the care team
• Deliver safe transfers, gait training, and therapeutic exercises tailored to each patient
• Educate patients and families on home programs, safety, and long-term recovery strategies
• Collaborate with nurses, therapists, and support staff to create coordinated, patient-centered care plans
• Maintain accurate, timely documentation in the facility EMR and contribute to quality improvement efforts
• Ensure equipment is maintained and infection control standards are followed to keep patients safe

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program
• Current North Carolina PTA license required (or ability to obtain prior to start)
• Basic Life Support (BLS) / CPR certification preferred or ability to obtain
• Comfortable with documentation in EMR systems and strong written communication
• Professional, compassionate demeanor and ability to work with diverse patient populations
• 1+ year of PTA experience preferred but new grads who show enthusiasm and strong clinical skills are welcome

Education

• Associate degree from an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong knowledge of therapeutic exercise, mobility training, and transfer techniques
• Familiarity with assistive devices and adaptive equipment
• Skilled in patient assessment, care planning, and measurable treatment progression
• Effective communication and teamwork with interdisciplinary staff
• Solid time management and prioritization in a busy clinical environment
• Understanding of safety protocols, infection control, and documentation best practices
