Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide skilled physical therapy treatments under the direction of a licensed PT, helping patients regain function and confidence
- Assess and document patient progress, adjusting interventions and communicating changes to the care team
- Deliver safe transfers, gait training, and therapeutic exercises tailored to each patient
- Educate patients and families on home programs, safety, and long-term recovery strategies
- Collaborate with nurses, therapists, and support staff to create coordinated, patient-centered care plans
- Maintain accurate, timely documentation in the facility EMR and contribute to quality improvement efforts
- Ensure equipment is maintained and infection control standards are followed to keep patients safe
Qualifications
- Graduation from an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program
- Current North Carolina PTA license required (or ability to obtain prior to start)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) / CPR certification preferred or ability to obtain
- Comfortable with documentation in EMR systems and strong written communication
- Professional, compassionate demeanor and ability to work with diverse patient populations
- 1+ year of PTA experience preferred but new grads who show enthusiasm and strong clinical skills are welcome
Education
- Associate degree from an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong knowledge of therapeutic exercise, mobility training, and transfer techniques
- Familiarity with assistive devices and adaptive equipment
- Skilled in patient assessment, care planning, and measurable treatment progression
- Effective communication and teamwork with interdisciplinary staff
- Solid time management and prioritization in a busy clinical environment
- Understanding of safety protocols, infection control, and documentation best practices
