Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate hands-on care to residents, helping with daily living activities
- Assist with bathing, dressing, grooming and mobility with dignity and respect
- Monitor and record vital signs and report changes in condition promptly
- Support nursing staff with treatments and documentation to ensure continuity of care
- Create a warm, safe environment that promotes independence and comfort
- Communicate effectively with residents and families to build trust and understanding
Qualifications
- Current certification as a Geriatric Nursing Assistant (GNA) required
- State-required background check and health screenings as applicable
- Current CPR/BLS certification preferred or willing to obtain
- Ability to pass facility onboarding requirements and demonstrate safe resident handling
- Compassionate demeanor, strong communication skills, and teamwork mindset
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Completion of an approved GNA training program
Knowledge & Skills
- Comfortable assisting with activities of daily living and mobility support
- Ability to take and record vital signs accurately
- Basic understanding of infection control and safe patient handling
- Familiarity with documenting care in charts or electronic systems
- Strong interpersonal skills and patience working with older adults
