Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, hands-on care for geriatric residents, assisting with activities of daily living (bathing, dressing, feeding)
• Monitor and record vital signs and resident conditions accurately and promptly
• Support mobility and safe transfers, using proper body mechanics and equipment
• Assist with mealtime prep and ensure residents receive appropriate nutrition and meal assistance
• Communicate changes in resident status to nursing staff and document care in facility records
• Participate in care planning and collaborate with interdisciplinary team to improve resident outcomes
• Promote a respectful, dignified environment that supports residents' independence and quality of life

Qualifications

• GNA certification (state-approved Geriatric Nursing Assistant credential) — required
• Current CPR/BLS certification preferred or willing to obtain
• Previous experience in long-term care, skilled nursing, or geriatric settings is a plus
• Ability to pass background checks and meet facility onboarding requirements
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills; compassionate bedside manner
• Ability to stand, walk, and assist with physical tasks typical of nursing assistant roles

Education

• High school diploma or GED preferred
• Completion of a Geriatric Nursing Assistant training program / state-approved GNA course

Knowledge & Skills

• Knowledge of ADLs (activities of daily living) and safe transfer techniques
• Basic infection control practices and hand hygiene
• Ability to take and record vital signs accurately
• Comfortable with documentation and following care plans
• Strong observational skills to identify changes in resident condition
• Teamwork and effective communication with residents, families, and clinical staff
