Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate personal care and assistance with activities of daily living (bathing, dressing, toileting)
- Assist residents safely with mobility and transfers, prioritizing dignity
- Observe, document and report changes in resident condition to the nursing team
- Support mealtime assistance and basic nutrition needs with patience and kindness
- Maintain a safe, clean environment and follow infection-control protocols
- Build trusting relationships with residents and families through respectful communication
Qualifications
- Valid Geriatric Nursing Assistant (GNA) certification — required
- Current CPR/BLS certification preferred or willing to obtain
- Demonstrated experience providing direct care in long-term care or similar settings is a plus
- Comfortable with physical aspects of the role (standing, lifting, assisting transfers)
- Strong communication skills and a team-oriented attitude
- Ability to pass background and health screening as required by the facility
Education
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- Completion of an approved GNA training program
Knowledge & Skills
- Person-centered care practices and techniques
- Basic vital signs and observation skills
- Infection prevention and safe hand hygiene
- Documentation and charting basics for resident care
- Effective interpersonal skills for resident and family interactions
- Time management and teamwork in a fast-paced care setting
