Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality critical care nursing for adult ICU patients, ensuring safety and comfort
• Manage ventilator settings and perform advanced ventilator care in collaboration with the team
• Titrate sedation and vasoactive medications safely based on patient status and protocols
• Perform or assist with procedures such as tracheostomy care, bronchoscopy support, and cardioversion
• Document patient care accurately in Meditech and communicate changes clearly during handoff
• Deliver excellent patient and family communication using AIDET and targeted education strategies
• Work collaboratively with interdisciplinary team members and float as needed to support unit needs
• Maintain unit equipment competency for GE monitors, Drager vents, Pyxis, and Nova glucometers

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license; eligible to practice in Tennessee
• Minimum 2 years of recent ICU or critical care nursing experience
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
• Experience with ventilator management, sedation protocols, and medication titration
• Comfortable supporting procedures common to ICU such as trach care, bronchoscopy, and cardioversion
• Positive attitude, strong teamwork ethic, and solid problem solving skills
• Ability to document in Meditech and use common ICU equipment (GE monitors, Drager vents, Pyxis)

Education

• Active RN license in Tennessee
• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required; BSN preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Ventilator management and weaning
• Sedation management and medication titration
• Critical care monitoring using GE monitors and other bedside devices
• Meditech documentation and electronic charting workflows
• Procedural assistance: trach placement support, bronchoscopy, cardioversion
• Use of Pyxis medication dispensing systems and Nova glucometers
• Patient communication skills including AIDET and medication teaching
• Ability to work in a 2:1 patient ratio ICU environment and collaborate with interdisciplinary teams
