Candidate Pay Rate: $57 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities
- Manage ventilators and provide expert ventilator care, including GE and Hamilton ventilators
- Perform advanced airway management, tracheostomy care, suctioning, and extubations when appropriate
- Deliver respiratory medications and therapies such as nebulizers, MDI, inhaled therapies, and nitric oxide under protocol
- Provide oxygen therapy and High Flow Nasal Cannula (HFNC) management to optimize patient oxygenation
- Interpret arterial blood gases (ABGs) and apply findings to bedside respiratory treatment plans
- Troubleshoot high-pressure alarms and lead weaning from mechanical ventilation efforts
- Document accurately in Epic and maintain clear communication with nursing, physicians, and the care team
- Float to University Hospital when needed and adapt to a large academic medical center environment
Qualifications
- Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) certification required
- Active Ohio state license (or ability to obtain) required
- Minimum 2 years of clinical respiratory experience, preferably in adult critical care or ED
- Epic experience required for charting and documentation
- BLS required; ACLS and CRT preferred
- Previous travel experience preferred but not required
- Willingness to work night shifts, some weekends, and full holiday availability
Education
- High school diploma required
- College diploma or transcript preferred (healthcare-related programs encouraged)
Knowledge & Skills
- Ventilator management (GE ventilators; Hamilton preferred)
- BiPAP/CPAP and noninvasive ventilation expertise
- High Flow Nasal Cannula (HFNC) and trach collar management
- Airway management, nasal/oral airway placement, suctioning, and tracheostomy care
- Medication administration for respiratory agents and familiarity with delivery systems (MDI, aerosol setups)
- Interpretation of ABGs and adjusting therapies accordingly
- Pulmonary hygiene techniques and sputum specimen collection
- Troubleshooting ventilator alarms and leading weaning protocols
- Comfort working in Adult Critical Care and Emergency Department settings
- Strong Epic documentation and interdisciplinary communication skills
