Shift Type: Rotating 12-hour day shifts, 7:00 AM - 7:00 PM, days (schedule varies) with every-other-weekend requirement; floating between 4th, 5th, and 6th floors as needed (Day shift)

Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess and monitor PCU/stepdown patients using telemetry and clinical judgment
• Administer and titrate cardiac drips and IV infusions safely and accurately
• Interpret cardiac monitoring strips and act promptly on abnormal findings
• Provide high-quality care for patients with CVA/TIA, STEMI/NSTEMI, ACS, CHF, respiratory failure, DKA, and post-cardiac procedures
• Document thoroughly in EPIC to ensure continuity and clarity of care
• Serve as free charge nurse when assigned, coordinating care and supporting the team
• Collaborate with hospitalists, intensivists, RT, pharmacy, and the IV team to optimize patient outcomes
• Respond to Rapid Response Team situations and participate in emergency interventions
• Educate patients and families about diagnoses, treatments, and discharge planning

Qualifications

• Active WA RN license or Compact RN license ready to submit
• Current ACLS (AHA), BLS (AHA), and NIHSS certifications
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience; PCU/Stepdown experience strongly preferred
• Experience with telemetry monitoring and cardiac strip interpretation
• Proven IV/infusion/drip management skills including drips listed on unit
• Familiarity with EPIC charting and inpatient acute care workflows
• Comfort working 12-hour day shifts and floating between units

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Nursing Diploma required; BSN not required

Knowledge & Skills

• Telemetry monitoring and cardiac rhythm interpretation
• Management of cardiac medications and titratable drips
• PCU/stepdown nursing principles and high-acuity patient care
• Assessment and stabilization of stroke, ACS, respiratory, and renal patients
• Rapid Response procedures and collaborative team-based problem solving
• Phlebotomy and working with IV/IV team resources
• Experience with CAPD (Peritoneal Dialysis) is a plus
• Strong clinical prioritization, communication, and documentation skills in EPIC
