Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, hands-on care to geriatric residents during the night shift
- Assist residents with activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, and toileting
- Monitor residents for changes in condition and promptly report concerns to nursing staff
- Record resident care and observations accurately and timely in charts or electronic systems
- Support fall prevention, safety protocols, and proper infection control practices
- Create a calm, respectful environment that preserves residents' dignity and comfort
- Work collaboratively with nurses, therapists, and family members to support resident well-being
Qualifications
- Valid Geriatric Nursing Assistant (GNA) certification or equivalent
- Current CPR/BLS certification preferred or required by facility
- State-required registration or licensure for Maryland if applicable
- Successful background check and up-to-date immunizations as required by facility
- Comfortable working night shift hours and supporting a diverse resident population
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work well in a team
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent
- GNA certification or completion of an approved nursing assistant program
Knowledge & Skills
- Knowledge of geriatric care needs, including dementia and memory support
- Familiarity with infection control, PPE use, and safe hygiene practices
- Basic vital signs monitoring and documentation skills
- Experience with resident transfers and safe lifting techniques
- Clear, compassionate communication with residents and family members
- Reliable time management and attention to detail for accurate charting
