Geriatric Nursing Assistant

Shift Type: Schedule varies, 11:00 PM - 7:00 AM NOC
Hours per Week: 40
Candidate Pay Rate: $20 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities
- Assist residents with activities of daily living — bathing, dressing, grooming and more with dignity and compassion
- Monitor and record vital signs and report any changes to the nursing team promptly
- Support safe and comfortable transfers and ambulation for residents
- Help maintain a clean, safe environment and follow infection-control practices
- Provide meaningful social interaction and emotional support to residents
- Collaborate with nurses and interdisciplinary staff to deliver individualized care
- Document care activities accurately and communicate resident needs during shift handoffs
Qualifications
- GNA certification (required) — your core credential for this role
- Current state GNA/CNA registry or licensure as required by Maryland
- Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) certification preferred or willing to obtain
- Comfortable working nights and supporting geriatric populations
- Strong communication skills and a team-oriented attitude
- Previous experience in long-term care or skilled nursing is a plus
Education
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- Completion of an approved GNA training program and active certification
Knowledge & Skills
- Understanding of geriatric care principles and common age-related conditions
- Skill in assisting with ADLs and basic patient hygiene
- Ability to take and document vital signs accurately
- Familiarity with infection control, safe transfer techniques, and fall prevention
- Empathy, patience, and strong interpersonal skills for resident-centered care
- Basic charting and effective communication during shift reports
