Roles & Responsibilities

• Assist residents with activities of daily living — bathing, dressing, grooming and more with dignity and compassion
• Monitor and record vital signs and report any changes to the nursing team promptly
• Support safe and comfortable transfers and ambulation for residents
• Help maintain a clean, safe environment and follow infection-control practices
• Provide meaningful social interaction and emotional support to residents
• Collaborate with nurses and interdisciplinary staff to deliver individualized care
• Document care activities accurately and communicate resident needs during shift handoffs

Qualifications

• GNA certification (required) — your core credential for this role
• Current state GNA/CNA registry or licensure as required by Maryland
• Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) certification preferred or willing to obtain
• Comfortable working nights and supporting geriatric populations
• Strong communication skills and a team-oriented attitude
• Previous experience in long-term care or skilled nursing is a plus

Education

• High school diploma or GED preferred
• Completion of an approved GNA training program and active certification

Knowledge & Skills

• Understanding of geriatric care principles and common age-related conditions
• Skill in assisting with ADLs and basic patient hygiene
• Ability to take and document vital signs accurately
• Familiarity with infection control, safe transfer techniques, and fall prevention
• Empathy, patience, and strong interpersonal skills for resident-centered care
• Basic charting and effective communication during shift reports
