Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess and manage respiratory care for critically ill adult and pediatric patients in the ICU
• Operate, monitor and troubleshoot ventilators and advanced respiratory equipment with precision
• Collaborate closely with interdisciplinary ICU teams to develop and adjust patient treatment plans
• Provide timely, compassionate airway management and emergency respiratory interventions when needed
• Document all care thoroughly and accurately in Epic to ensure continuity and quality of care
• Educate patients and families about respiratory therapies and support post-procedure planning
• Support unit staffing needs by floating between like units as required by the facility

Qualifications

• Active Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential — pending licenses are not accepted
• Minimum 2 years of clinical experience (ICU experience and comfort with both adults and children preferred)
• Comfortable working night shifts, weekends and holiday coverage as required
• Experience working in acute care/ICU settings and familiarity with critical care workflows
• Experience with Epic charting is a plus and will help with rapid onboarding
• Flu vaccine required (medical/religious exemptions only); COVID-19 vaccine not required per facility guidance

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong knowledge of mechanical ventilation, ABG interpretation and advanced airway management
• Skilled in pediatric and adult critical care respiratory practices
• Proficient documentation skills in Epic (or fast ability to learn the system)
• Ability to prioritize in fast-paced trauma/teaching hospital environment
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills for multidisciplinary ICU collaboration
• Comfortable floating between similar units to meet staffing needs
