Roles & Responsibilities
- Evaluate and treat pediatric patients using evidence-based speech-language pathology approaches in an outpatient setting
- Conduct thorough assessments with tools like CELF, PLS-4 and Rossetti to shape individualized plans of care
- Document assessments, concurrent therapy, re-assessments and discharge clearly and in EPIC to support billing and continuity
- Provide patient- and family-centered education to empower caregivers and improve carryover
- Use and recommend alternative/augmentative communication devices and communication boards when appropriate
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members (PT, interpretation services, caregivers) to coordinate holistic care
- Manage caseload independently, making clinically sound decisions and maintaining high-quality therapeutic outcomes
- Maintain patient safety by recognizing and reporting signs & symptoms of physical, sexual, and psychological abuse
Qualifications
- CCC-SLP (Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology) required
- State licensure in Washington (active) required
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required
- Minimum 1 year of clinical SLP experience (pediatric outpatient experience required)
- Comfortable and experienced working with children with autism and their families
- Experience with EPIC (documentation system) is required
- Travel experience required — able to work independently with limited onsite support
- Able to pass facility credentialing and payor enrollment prior to start
Knowledge & Skills
- Skilled in pediatric language, fluency, articulation and neurodevelopmental presentations (e.g., autism, developmental delay, ADHD)
- Proficient with assessment tools: CELF, PLS-4, Rossetti Infant-Toddler Language Scale, and non-evaluative screening tools
- Familiar with dysphagia management (bedside swallow evaluation, compensatory strategies) — preferred
- Knowledgeable about documentation and billing requirements including Medicaid, SLP evaluation coding, plan of care and re-assessments
- Comfortable recommending and implementing augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) devices and communication boards
- Able to deliver clear patient/family education and in-service training when needed
- Experience interpreting and coordinating care related to complex pediatric needs including complications from prematurity and feeding concerns
