Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide expert, compassionate care to neuro and trauma ICU patients, including those with ICP monitors and lumbar drains
• Manage complex therapies such as continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT) and advanced hemodynamic monitoring
• Assess and monitor patients frequently, intervening quickly when changes occur to ensure optimal outcomes
• Document all care accurately and efficiently in EPIC to maintain continuity and compliance
• Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team—physicians, therapists, pharmacists, and support staff—to coordinate care plans
• Educate patients and families about conditions, procedures, and aftercare with empathy and clarity
• Demonstrate flexibility by floating to Cardiovascular Unit, Telemetry, ICU/CCU, or Med-Surg units as needed

Qualifications

• Current California RN license required
• Minimum 5 years of acute critical care nursing experience
• Level II trauma critical care experience required
• Prior travel nurse experience preferred
• Proven EPIC charting experience
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
• Comfort and competence working in a 2:1 patient ratio on a 12-bed neuro/trauma unit

Education

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program (ADN or BSN preferred)
• Active California RN license required

Knowledge & Skills

• Skilled in neurocritical care: ICP monitoring, lumbar drains, neuro assessments
• Experience with CRRT and management of complex renal therapies
• Familiarity with telemetry, cardiovascular care, and ICU/CCU environments
• Strong critical thinking, rapid decision-making, and crisis management
• Excellent patient and family communication skills
• Proficient with EPIC electronic medical record system
• Ability to adapt and float across units when unit needs change
