Shift Type: Day shift, 6:30 AM - 3:00 PM, scheduled 5 days per week (exact days vary); includes 1 night on-call per week, every 5th/6th weekend on-call, and rotating holiday call (Day shift with rotating on-call/weekend coverage)
Hours per Week: 40
Candidate Pay Rate: $71 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide safe, efficient perioperative nursing care in the Operating Room for adults, pediatrics and geriatrics
- Prepare and maintain the OR environment for a wide variety of surgical procedures, including neurosurgery and robotic cases
- Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia, techs and charge nurse to ensure smooth patient flow and optimal outcomes
- Perform reliable EPIC charting and accurate documentation of perioperative care
- Serve as a flexible team player, floating to Pre/Post-op, PACU or ER trauma when trained and needed
- Teach and support colleagues by sharing expertise, contributing to unit education, and mentoring newer staff
- Adhere to infection control, safety policies (including fingernail policy) and hospital standards at all times
Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license valid for practice in Nebraska
- Minimum 2 years of nursing experience (OR experience strongly preferred)
- Neurosurgery experience at 3 and 4 level cases required; comfortable across all service lines
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
- Valid driver’s license required at time of submittal (used for radius rule verification)
- Able to pass an orientation skills exam (open book) with a minimum score of 90% as part of onboarding
- Willingness to comply with facility policies (no artificial nails in patient care areas) and radius/employment restrictions related to CommonSpirit facilities
Education
- Active RN license required
- BSN not required
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong perioperative knowledge across surgical specialties: neurosurgery, ENT, orthopedic, GYN, general and robotic (DaVinci)
- Proficient with EPIC electronic medical record documentation
- Skilled in scrub and circulating roles within the OR
- Comfortable with pediatric and obstetric cases when needed
- Trauma/ER familiarity a plus for float coverage
- Excellent teamwork, communication, and adaptability in a fast-paced surgical environment
