Shift Type: 12-hour night shifts; Nights (primarily Fri/Sat); Every-other-weekend (2 weekend shifts per 4-week schedule); 36 hours/week guaranteed; EOW rotation; may require on-call/standby with 30-minute callback; first-to-float and scheduled 4 weeks in advance

Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality labor and delivery care, managing patients from triage through delivery and immediate postpartum
- Perform neonatal resuscitation at deliveries and stabilize newborns for NICU transfer when needed
- Use advanced fetal monitoring (Fetalink) to assess fetal status and collaborate on care decisions
- Titrate medications (including pitocin and occasional insulin) safely and per unit protocols
- Circulate in the OR for C-sections when required and collaborate closely with anesthesia and surgical teams
- Serve as a dependable team member during high-acuity births, including twins and preterm presentations
- Act as a shift-level leader when needed — support charge nurse/shift manager and assist with unit flow
- Document care accurately in Cerner and communicate changes to multidisciplinary teams
Qualifications
- Active RN license (eligible to submit) for California
- Minimum overall RN experience: 2 years (per job posting)
- At least 1 year of LDRP (Labor/Delivery/Recovery/Postpartum) experience required; 3 years preferred
- Required certifications: NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program), ACLS, BLS, AWHONN Advanced Electronic Fetal Monitoring
- OR circulating experience required for L&D-only candidates (postpartum-only experience alone will not be accepted)
- Comfortable with neonatal resuscitation at delivery — no in-house pediatric coverage
- Able to titrate drips per unit protocols
- Willingness to float to other Sacramento facilities as needed and to work scheduled weekends/holidays
Education
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license — required
- BSN — not required (BSN not required per posting), but welcomed if available
- Required certifications: NRP, ACLS, BLS, AWHONN Advanced EFM
Knowledge & Skills
- Proficient with fetal monitoring (Fetalink) and AWHONN fetal surveillance practices
- Experience with Cerner electronic charting and clinical documentation
- Neonatal stabilization skills and experience with NRP
- Familiarity with respiratory support equipment (ventilator, CPAP, bubble CPAP) and collaborating with RT
- Ability to manage OB emergency scenarios and work with on-call anesthesia and in-house OBs
- Comfort with high-acuity births, twin deliveries, and rapid decision-making
- Strong teamwork, communication, and charge/shift coordination skills
