Shift Type: Night shifts, 12-hour (7:00 PM - 7:00 AM). Schedule includes 12-hour nights with 4 weekend shifts per 4 weeks, possible standby assignments, and required floating across ICU and tele units as needed
Hours per Week: 48
Candidate Pay Rate: $60 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality, patient-centered critical care to Neuro ICU patients, including post-operative neurosurgical and trauma patients
- Perform comprehensive neurological assessments and monitor intracranial pressure (ICP) and invasive devices such as external ventricular drains (EVD)
- Manage mechanical ventilation and collaborate closely with respiratory therapy for ventilator care
- Maintain sterile technique for Foley catheter insertions and central line dressing changes and demonstrate competency in SIMs Lab
- Safely float to telemetry and other ICU units when needed and manage adjusted patient ratios on tele assignments
- Communicate effectively with the multidisciplinary team, including neurosurgeons, intensivists, pharmacists, and charge nurses
- Participate in unit-specific orientation and ongoing education to maintain high standards of neurocritical care
Qualifications
- Active RN license in the applicable state (able to submit even if pending in some cases)
- Minimum 2 years ICU experience in a large hospital (450+ beds) or 18 months experience from a Neuro ICU unit
- Required experience: Level 1 Trauma experience and EVD (external ventricular drain) competency
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications
- Strong neuro assessment skills and ICP monitoring experience
- Competency with Cerner EMR and Phillips monitoring systems preferred
- Comfort with 12-hour night shifts and floating across units
- Willingness to comply with facility appearance and fit test requirements (facility requests natural hair color, no facial piercings, and men be clean shaven for fit testing)
Education
- Registered Nurse (RN) licensure required
- BLS and ACLS certifications required
- BSN not explicitly required; facility notes BSN field as not mandatory in posting

- Neurocritical care principles and neurological assessment
- ICP monitoring and management
- EVD management and monitoring of invasive devices
- Mechanical ventilator management for critically ill patients
- Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing change techniques
- Telemetry monitoring and recognition of arrhythmias
- Wound care, patient lifts, and safe use of restraints per policy
- Simulation lab competency and sterile field maintenance
