Roles & Responsibilities

• Assist the surgical team by scrubbing for complex cardiovascular cases including CABG, TAVR, aortic and mitral valve procedures
• Prepare and maintain sterile field and instrumentation for CVOR and hybrid room cases
• Anticipate surgeon needs and pass instruments efficiently to support smooth, safe procedures
• Collaborate with RNs, charge nurse and specialty leads to coordinate case flow across multiple OR suites
• Document perioperative care in Cerner and ensure accurate instrument counts and case records
• Respond promptly to on-call notifications (30-minute response expectation) and remain ready for weekend coverage as scheduled
• Participate in unit orientation and ongoing skill development to maintain high standards of cardiac surgical care

Qualifications

• BLS certification required for surgical techs
• Minimum 1 year of open-heart experience required; posting notes 2 years of experience as a position requirement
• Previous CVOR or scrub tech experience in cardiac OR settings (TAVR/CABG/aortic/mitral exposure)
• Comfort working in a high-volume cardiac OR with hybrid room cases
• Ability to respond to on-call duties within 30 minutes when scheduled
• Familiarity with Cerner EMR preferred
• Strong teamwork and communication skills; ability to take direction from surgeons and specialty leads

• Scrub Tech and CVOR procedures
• Open heart / cardiac surgical instrumentation and workflows
• TAVR, CABG, aortic valve and mitral valve procedural knowledge
• Sterile technique and instrument counts
• Cerner electronic charting
• On-call readiness and rapid response protocols
• Ability to work effectively with multidisciplinary OR teams
