Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide clinical leadership as the active/working House Supervisor for Med-Surg and the Emergency Department
- Supervise and support nursing staff across units, ensuring safe, high-quality patient care
- Step into hands-on patient care when needed while coordinating unit workflows
- Triage and coordinate emergency responses and patient transfers with urgency and composure
- Coach, mentor, and evaluate staff performance to foster professional growth
- Collaborate with physicians, charge nurses, and ancillary departments to resolve escalations
- Ensure compliance with hospital policies, regulatory requirements, and best-practice protocols
- Maintain accurate documentation and effective handoffs to support continuity of care
Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (required)
- Prior supervisor experience and Emergency Room (ER) experience (required)
- Med-Surg clinical experience and comfort working across Med-Surg and ER settings
- Current BLS, ACLS, PALS, and TNCC certifications (required)
- Strong leadership, critical thinking, and effective communication skills
- Ability to function as an active/working supervisor during busy day shifts
Education
- Active RN license required (state licensure)
- Relevant clinical training and certifications (BLS/ACLS/PALS/TNCC)
Knowledge & Skills
- Clinical supervision and staff coordination in inpatient settings
- Med-Surg nursing principles and patient assessment
- Emergency nursing triage, stabilization, and trauma-informed care
- Patient care planning, delegation, and escalation management
- Prioritization, situational awareness, and rapid decision-making
- Interdisciplinary collaboration and clear clinical communication
